Hello. You are at the website for Ed the Editor (Ed Rowe). I'm a professional copy editor and proof reader, working in both digital and print environments. I blog here and elesewhere, and I'm also an occasional writer. You can find my rate card here.
I got into copy editing by accident. I began my professional life as a nurse and then ducked out to be a journalist, but found that I preferred the process of writing and rewriting to reporting.
After obtaining a postgraduate certificate in periodical journalism from the London College of Communication, and surviving a tough period as a freelance, a friend put in a word for me at a contract magazines publishing house. I was employed there as a sub-editor, and I've never looked back. See more on my CV.
I specialize in health, which seems an obvious choice given my background, but I can turn my hands to most subjects. I love words and their use in language, so my job and my first name seem well suited.
Outside work, I've a young family and I facilitate a small meditation group.
